Read the counts. sourcesComplete against sourcesQueried says whether all 58 registries answered, so a partial search is never read as a clear one.

Security & Investigations screening: what the law requires and what it doesn’t
Registry status is a licensing bar for private security in some states. Texas bars anyone "required to register as a sex offender in Texas or any other state" from security licensing (Tex. Occ. Code § 1702.113), and Oregon’s licensing body must deny, revoke or refuse renewal for registry status (ORS 181A.855). Neither statute mandates a particular search, but both need registry data to apply — including registrations in other states.
The federal Private Security Officer Employment Authorization Act gives employers a channel to request criminal-history checks, but it authorizes rather than requires them. Claims that California or Florida security statutes mandate a registry search are not substantiated, so don’t rely on them in a policy. For investigators, the value is a normalized record across 58 registries with the official source attached.
For security firms with posts across several states, the multi-state reach is the point. The Texas bar applies to registration in Texas or any other state, so an in-state search alone cannot show an applicant qualifies. Can I search by alias or partial name?
Yes. The broad match mode applies nickname, variant, and typo tolerance across all registries, and free-text search spans name, alias, and address.
Is the source citable in a report?
Every record carries source provenance plus when it was last checked.
Can a registered sex offender work as a security guard?
Not in Texas or Oregon, where registry status bars licensing. Other states set their own rules; check the state licensing statute for each post.
Do investigators need an FCRA workflow?
If the investigation informs a decision about a consumer’s eligibility for employment, housing, credit or insurance, yes. Subject research for other purposes generally does not; confirm with counsel.
Can I search around a client site?
Yes, by address, ZIP or radius. Radius results cover records we have geocoded, so pair with a ZIP search when completeness matters.
Does one search cover registrations in other states?
Yes — one call searches the 58 US registries, which is what an any-state licensing bar like Texas’s requires.
