Send what you have. Name and date of birth; age or birth year when that is all you hold. Date of birth drives matchState: dob_match, year_match, age_match or no_dob_age_year.
Read the counts. sourcesComplete against sourcesQueried says whether all 58 registries answered, so a partial search is never read as a clear one.

Gig & Marketplaces screening: what the law requires and what it doesn’t
Outside transportation and delivery, most marketplaces have no statute naming a registry search. California’s Proposition 22 does require app-based delivery and rideshare companies to run criminal background checks on drivers (Bus. & Prof. Code § 7458), and state TNC laws set screening rules for rideshare drivers. For home services, pet care and tutoring, screening is a policy and liability choice.
Because gig workers are typically independent contractors, a check that decides whether someone may work on the platform is still a consumer-report use. The accuracy record matters: a screening vendor for a major home-sharing platform was sued over a mislabeled offense (Taylor v. Inflection), which is why each result here carries a match score and the official record link.

Can ops re-screen the fleet without engineering time?
Yes. Export the active fleet, upload it as a CSV in the dashboard, and every row runs as one search with its own result. No code, no integration — the API is there when you want screening inside your own systems.
What about drivers who have moved between states?
Every search covers all 58 US registries — every state, DC and the territories — so a registration anywhere in the country surfaces in the same search.
How do you keep false positives down at platform volume?
Every record carries a confidence score and match basis, and people are de-duplicated across sources so common names don’t explode your review queue.
Is this a background check / consumer report?
Not on the standard API: standard results are not a consumer report. FCRA-regulated use runs through FCRA Partner Access, a separately enabled service for approved consumer reporting agencies and screening platforms under a written FCRA agreement.
Do gig marketplaces have to run background checks?
Rideshare and app-based delivery do under state TNC laws and California’s Prop 22. Most other categories have no statute naming a registry search; platforms screen by policy.
Does the FCRA apply to independent contractors?
Treat it as applying when a result decides whether someone may work on your platform. Run those decisions through an FCRA workflow.
Can we screen in batches?
